Redesigning a Heritage American Menswear Brand for Optimal Performance

Robert Talbott, an iconic American menswear brand rooted in California, is celebrated for its timeless designs and exceptional craftsmanship. As the brand embarked on a comprehensive rebranding initiative—including updated designs, fits, and visual direction—it became clear that their existing Shopify theme, purchased from the theme store, no longer aligned with their elevated vision.

The old theme, similar to many other start-up templates like Motion, Impulse, and Prestige, failed to capture the unique essence of Robert Talbott’s brand. It lacked differentiation, modern performance standards, and the flexibility to showcase their premium products effectively.

To scale their global e-commerce operations, enhance their brand positioning, and drive performance improvements, Robert Talbott partnered with Panagora to create a bespoke Shopify Plus solution tailored to their needs.

Idea

Robert Talbott faced several key obstacles with their legacy theme:

  • Brand Alignment: The template lacked the premium, bespoke feel necessary to reflect the brand's heritage and craftsmanship.
  • Performance Issues: Slow site speed and a lack of optimization hindered the user experience.
  • Flexibility: Limited design capabilities constrained the brand’s ability to create dynamic, branded content.
  • Scalability: The theme’s structure was ill-suited for global expansion and new market entry.

Panagoras mission was to redesign the site, change to new product data models, and revamp their tech stack and build a complete new store concept based on Online store 2.0 and Shopify markets. Panagoras idea was to deliver a distinct and highly performing retail and customer experience in a custom theme based on the new rebranding. Robert Talbott suffered from a poor site speed, lack of expressions, lack of best practise in their purchased theme. They desperately needed a new rich design system and a flexible section library reflecting their reposition on the market. We used our optimized Panagora boilerplate with Robert Talbott's new visual identity for a superior fluid responsive solution, navigation, speed, and effortless shopping experience as the foundation. Our boilerplate boosts site performance, SEO, accessibility, and best practice and conversion but also expands into unique client specific solutions and brand expressions.
